Dublin association marks latest step in Eversheds" international expansion

Eversheds today announced its association with leading Irish law firm, O"Donnell Sweeney. Following on from the recently announced Swedish association, this makes eleven new international associations for Eversheds in the last two years and provides Eversheds with the ability to extend its presence across the EU, to service Irish-based clients locally and, particularly, to increase its appeal among US organisations with Irish interests.
O"Donnell Sweeney, one of the largest commercial law firms in Ireland, is situated in the heart of Dublin"s commercial district and services some of Ireland"s largest and most successful companies. With an international as well as national outlook, O"Donnell Sweeney has a substantial presence in the Irish business law market and advises indigenous owner-managed companies as well as international and multinational companies, banks, financial institutions and public organisations. Its clients are serviced by 16 partners and 67 lawyers.

This new association is the next step in Eversheds" strategy of extending its presence internationally by working with established and successful local businesses. The O"Donnell Sweeney association is a major move forward in expanding both Eversheds" Europe-wide offering and its appeal to US organisations with established or potential business links with Ireland.
The firm will continue to work under its existing name but will be additionally known as "a member of Eversheds International". The association is effective from 1 January 2006. Eversheds Chairman, Alan Jenkins, notes:
"O"Donnell Sweeney has been a preferred partner in Ireland for some time and we have established a good working relationship. This is an excellent opportunity to extend our presence into Ireland, whilst ensuring that clients either based in or having business interests there, feel they are getting local expertise and relationships as well as high quality legal support. Ireland is one of the most vibrant and exciting economies in the EU and a major focus for US business, providing excellent business growth opportunities.

"O"Donnell Sweeney is a highly successful and dynamic business and we are jointly looking to maximise opportunities from this association being the first tie-up between prominent firms in Ireland and Britain and the first such link between English-speaking members of the Euro-zone."
O"Donnell Sweeney Managing Partner, Francis Hackett, adds: "This association marks an important milestone in the development of the firm and also reflects the growing globalisation of our clients" business. Increasingly our clients are developing their businesses outside of Ireland and we now have the ability to grow with them by joining a strong network of international firms working together to deliver service on a Pan-European and even worldwide basis."
O"Donnell Sweeney and Eversheds have already worked on some joint initiatives in the financial services and commercial property sectors and are working together with clients who require legal services on a pan-European basis.
