Heisse Kursawe Eversheds: JUVE "Corporate Law Firm of the Year" and Nominated for the JUVE "IP Law Firm of the Year" Award

The renowned specialized publisher JUVE elected the international commercial law firm Heisse Kursawe Eversheds the "2010 Corporate Law Firm of the Year". Furthermore, HKE was among the nominees for the IP Law Firm of the Year.

The JUVE Awards are granted annually in various categories and are considered to be among the most important awards in the law firm industry. Apart from those winners who are awarded the prize in a ceremony, the JUVE Handbook 2010/11 bestows the "Law Firm of the Year" Award to further law firms for their strong development.

With regard to the awarding to Heisse Kursawe Eversheds, JUVE comments: "HKE's capital market law practice group is recognized as one of the strongest outside Frankfurt for years. Its clientele has been expanding every year by new publicly quoted companies. This year, it turned out that HKE furthermore makes use of the Eversheds Network's international potential and is at the same time able to balance the strong growth of its medium-sized enterprise clientele. Dr. Matthias Heisse, a "reliable and economically minded" attorney is often commissioned for AGMs, particularly when disputes are likely to arise. The fact that legal services regarding expropriation are currently being rendered to JC Flowers shows that the law firm is able to provide advice on both sides. In order to ensure sustainability, the law firm, however, also had to offer other players. This year, a subsequent generation, including Dr. Stefan Diemer and Dr. Sebastian Zeeck, became noticeable. Dr. Zeeck had been recommended for an extraordinarily complex squeeze-out of a SDAX-listed company before. Besides, 2009/10 was the year when Christof Lamberts intensified, together with Eversheds, the concerted effort to provide ongoing consultancy services for leading US corporate groups in Europe - with impressive outcomes: a long list of Fortune 500 Companies as clients. The expanded medium-sized enterprise clientele base and the establishment of a family office under the direction of Dr. Christophe Samson continues to broaden the spectrum even further and shows that there are only few law firms that are able to keep up with HKE's strategic expansion in Corporate Law.

Dr. Matthias Heisse, Managing Partner and head of the Corporate Law practice group of Heisse Kursawe Eversheds, said: "We are very delighted to receive this award and consider it as evidence of a development which would not have been possible without our committed Partners and staff throughout the law firm. At the same time, the award is an incentive for us to continue working to ensure that we convince our clients with first-class legal advisory services."

Moreover, Heisse Kursawe Eversheds was nominated as IP Law Firm of the Year along with four other competitors.

JUVE comments on this as follows: "At home in Munich, networked globally: this is the formula for success of Heisse Kursawe Eversheds' IP practice group. In addition to the solid own clientele base, the law firm, which advises important companies such as Germanwings or Mary Kay Cosmetics, benefits from a constantly increasing inflow of international clients via the global Eversheds network. However, the decisive step for the team around Axel Zimmermann was the acquisition of a group consisting of altogether eight attorneys from Hammonds under the direction of Hosea Haag and Dr. Herbert Kunz. The establishment of the additional practice groups Patent Services and Patent Litigation was an important step towards a full service provider. Furthermore, the team of Hammonds brought along outstanding business contacts, e.g. New Balance. Due to this targeted reinforcement with patent attorneys, the team in Munich is nowadays clearly more visible than it was in the past. The appointment of a new Partner in the IP practice group and the upgrading of the German office as Eversheds' global centre of excellence in IP matters emphasize this significance."

Axel Zimmermann, member of the management committee and head of the IP practice group says: "This is a great success for our growing team, which shows, day by day, that it can optimally provide our clients with full service."
